Career
Foster played at the beginning of his career from 1897 to 1899 for Reading FC in the Southern Football League , when he reached two fifth places in the final table, he came to a total of 25 inserts. In October 1898 Foster was fined £ 1 for "misconduct" by the club, and three of his teammates were suspended for three weeks. In the season 1899/1900 he was active for one season with Northampton Town in the Midland Football League . The club was newly admitted to the Midland League and immediately reached third place in the table. Foster was active as a regular on the outside runner position and in the further course of the season as a center runner and was also successful several times as a penalty taker. In May 1900 he moved to the Football League Second Division at Leicester Fosse , where he was provided as a replacement for Herbert Dainty .
During his time at Leicester, he lived with his teammate Peter Kyle in close proximity to the stadium on Filbert Street . Foster came in particular at the beginning of the season to 20 league appearances as a right wing runner before he was ousted in this position by Arthur Berry . With the return of Dainty the following season, Foster left Leicester Fosse again and moved to the Southern League for FC Kettering . There, his term ended in the spring on charges of "drunkenness and disturbance of the peace" for which he was sentenced in a local court to a fine of five shillings and the costs of four shillings and four pence. He continued his footballer career from mid-1902 at Rothwell Town Swifts in the Northamptonshire League .
