James Edward "Jim" Gorman (born January 30, 1859 in Wolverhampton , United Kingdom , † November 2, 1929 in San Francisco ) was an American sports marksman .
successes
James Gorman took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London in part in two competitions. In the individual competition with the free pistol he was third with 485 points behind the Belgian shooters Paul van Asbroeck and Réginald Storms and won the bronze medal. In the team competition he took first place together with Charles Axtell , John Dietz and Irving Calkins . With 1914 points, the Americans asserted themselves in front of the Belgian and British teams and became Olympic champions . With 501 points, Gorman was not only the best shooter in the team, but also in the entire competition.
