James H. Spencer

James "Jim" Harold Spencer (born June 13, 1942 in Los Angeles , United States ) is an American film architect .

James Spencer studied at the Commercial Arts Center and the College of Design in his native Los Angeles. In 1965 he began his practical work on television as one of several production designers on the popular crime series Tennis Rackets and Cannons . His start with the cinema was extremely hopeful: In 1972, Spencer designed the film structures for Peter Bogdanovich's surprise success Papermoon . This was followed by other commissions for notable productions such as Hal Ashby's This Land is My Land and John G. Avildsen's Rocky . Later, however, Spencer had to deal with the design of much less ambitious entertainment like the Poltergeist(from Steven Spielberg's production output ), Gremlins - Little Monsters and Gremlins 2 as well as Spielberg's horror episode film Unheimliche Schattenlichter are content. At that time, the 1980s, he collaborated frequently with director Joe Dante . Since the turn of the millennium, James Spencer has primarily designed the sets for television series, including Lost , Last Resort and Notorious .
