James Hill (politician, 1899)

James Meecham Hill ( 1899 - December 22, 1966 ) was a British politician .

Political career

In the general election in 1955 , Labor politician David Pryde won the mandate of the newly created Midlothian constituency . Pryde died shortly before the end of the electoral term. Since parliament was about to be dissolved, no by-elections were scheduled in the constituency. In the following general election in 1959 , the Labor Party sent James Hill to succeed Pryde. Hill held the mandate for the Labor Party and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time . His first speech in Parliament was registered on October 30th of the same year. In the following general election in 1964 Hill defended his mandate. In the general election in 1966 Hill did not run and he left the British House of Commons. His successor Alex Eadie held the mandate for the Labor Party. There are 31 entries in Parliament by Hill.
