The British general election in 1959 took place on October 8, 1959. When choosing the deputies were for the lower house (House of Commons) redefined.

Electoral system

The simple majority voting system was used for voting . There was no threshold clause .

Election result

The Conservative Party took an almost identical result compared to the previous 46.6 percent general election of 1955 a. This enabled her to defend her absolute majority. The Labor Party suffered significant losses. The Liberal Party was able to win the most votes .
