The New Apostolic Church Berlin-Charlottenburg is a sacred building of the New Apostolic Church (NAK) in the Berlin Brandenburg District Church . It is located at Wernigeroder Strasse 10 at the corner of Nordhauser Strasse 3 in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg ( Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district ). It was created between 1929 and 1930 based on a design by Albert Gericke. The architectural style has echoes of the New Objectivity , but with reminiscences of Expressionism .

Building description

The building complex consists of three parts in closed development . The two- storey wing of the church is covered with a gable roof. The high gable of the main front on Werningeroder Straße is preceded by an apse with the portals , flanked by extensions for the stairwells . The longitudinal walls are structured by wall templates and opened by windows on both floors. The original lattice windows were replaced by lead glass windows during a renovation . The structure continues on the side of the altar along Nordhausener Straße in a two-axle residential building , initially tower-like with seven storeys, then, to adapt to the eaves height of the neighboring house, with five. There is a two-storey, flat-roofed extension on Werningeroder Straße .

The masonry is plastered in light yellow . The wall templates, the eaves and the gable cornices are faced with red bricks, as are the side reveals of the windows and portals. The apse contains the vestibule and above it the gallery for the choir and the console for the altar organ . The nave , framed on three sides by galleries, looks like a pillarless basilica due to the elevation of the central nave , but it is a hall church . The altar on the podium is below the organ prospect . The space behind it tapers like a funnel.
