James Houghton

James Houghton (born November 7, 1948 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and screenwriter .

Life

James Houghton gained an insight into the world of show business at an early age, as his father Buck Houghton was a successful film and television producer. After graduating from a Swiss boarding school, Houghton decided to study economics , but dropped out again after three years to devote himself to acting. He became popular for his interpretation of Greg Forrester in the soap opera Shadow of Passion (1973-1976) before appearing in the television series Under the California Sun (1979-1983), Torches in the Storm (1986), The Empire - The Colbys (1986 –1987) or the movies Even More American Graffiti (1979), The Witch (1982) and Purple People Eater (1988).

In addition to his acting career, he also aspired to work as a screenwriter for American television series. He wrote, among others, with his sister Mona Houghton , screenplays for Under the California Sun and for Shadows of Passion . He was part of the main screenwriting team for this series until 2006 and, apart from a guest appearance in 2003, has retired from acting since 1988 in order to exclusively write screenplays.

James Houghton is married with two children.
