Robert James Montgomery (born September 20, 1891 in Lincoln , † unknown) was a Canadian sports marksman .

successes

James Montgomery took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 and in Paris in a trap in 1924 . In 1920 he reached sixth place in the individual with 86 points, with the team he finished the competition in fifth place. Four years later he scored 97 points in the individual competition like Frank Hughes , but lost to Hughes in the subsequent jump-off for the bronze medal and finished fourth. In the team competition, he finished second with the Canadian team behind the United States and ahead of Finland. With a total of 360 points, the team, which in addition to Montgomery also consisted of George Beattie , Samuel Vance , John Black , Samuel Newton and William Barnes , was on par with the Finns, but defeated them in a final jump-off and thus won the silver medal. Montgomery was the team's best shooter with 92 points, along with Beattie.
