Samuel Robert Newton (born November 23, 1881 in Drummondville , † October 11, 1944 in Sherbrooke ) was a Canadian sports marksman .
successes
Samuel Newton took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris in a trap . In the team competition, he finished second with the Canadian team behind the United States and ahead of Finland. With a total of 360 points, the team, which in addition to Newton also consisted of George Beattie , James Montgomery , Samuel Vance , John Black and William Barnes , was on par with the Finns, but defeated them in a final jump-off and thus won the silver medal. Newton was the team's weakest shooter with 73 points, so his score was not included in the overall standings.
Newton graduated in 1903, a master's degree of engineering at McGill University from. He spent his professional life at Ingersoll Rand , where he first started as a designer and rose to Vice President by 1934. He was on Sherbrooke City Council for ten years .
