George Beattie (born May 28, 1877 in Montreal , † after 1924 ) was a Canadian sports shooter .
successes
George Beattie launched at the 1908 Olympic Games in London in the discipline trap . In this he came second behind his compatriot Walter Ewing with 60 points and ahead of Alexander Maunder and Anastasios Metaxas with 57 points each and thus secured the silver medal. He also finished the team competition with the Canadian team in second place, with 405 points just two points behind the first British team. 1920 in Antwerp , he missed the medal ranks in the individual, while he was fifth with the team after seven rounds and 474 points. Four years later he finished sixth in the individual competition in Paris with 96 points and thus only one point behind the medal ranks . With the team, however, he won his third Olympic silver. The US team won gold by three points over the Canadians.
Beattie spent most of his life in Hamilton and worked as a gamekeeper in what was then Wentworth County , which is now part of the city of Hamilton.
