Alexander Maunder took part in the Olympic Games in London in 1908 and in Stockholm in 1912 in a trap . Maunder finished the individual competition in 1908 with 57 points, tied with Anastasios Metaxas in third place behind Walter Ewing and George Beattie and thus won the bronze medal. In the team competition, he took first place with the first British team before Canada and the second British team. With a total of 407 points and thus two points ahead of the Canadians, the British, whose team consisted of Maunder, James Pike , Charles Palmer , John Postans , Frank Moore and Peter Easte , secured the gold medal. Maunder was the team's best shooter with 83 points. Four years later he did not get past 49th place in the individual, but won another medal with the team. With 511 points, they kept the German team one point at a distance and secured the silver medal behind the US team (532 points). Maunder was this time with 89 points the second best shooter of the team, which also included Harold Humby , William Grosvenor , George Whitaker , Charles Palmer and John Butt .

He was initially nominated for the Olympic Games in 1924 , whereupon Maunder, then 63 years old, but asked to make the starting place available to a younger shooter.
