Samuel Goodwin "Sam" Vance (born March 30, 1879 in Hickson , † May 16, 1947 in Tillsonburg ) was a Canadian sports shooter .
successes
Samuel Vance took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 and in Paris in a trap in 1924 . In 1920 he missed the top places in the individual with 71 points, with the team he finished the competition in fifth place. Four years later he was sixth in the individual competition. In the team competition, he finished second with the Canadian team behind the United States and ahead of Finland. With a total of 360 points, the team, which in addition to Vance also consisted of George Beattie , James Montgomery , John Black , Samuel Newton and William Barnes , was on par with the Finns, but defeated them in a final jump-off and thus won the silver medal. Vance was the team's third best shooter with 89 points. He won numerous titles at national and regional level.
