James Morrow (Author)
James Kenneth Morrow (born March 17, 1947 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American science fiction writer. Morrow is married and has one son. He currently resides in the State College District in Pennsylvania.
Morrow is known for his satirical works that challenge organized religion as well as humanistic and atheistic viewpoints. An example of this is his 1990 World Fantasy Award- winning novel Only Begotten Daughter , in which Jesus' half-sister, daughter of God, is born into contemporary American culture.
His best-known work is the Godhead Trilogy , the first part of which Towing Jehovah (1994, Eng. "The God's Supper") also won the World Fantasy Award. Here the 2 mile long body of God floating in the sea has to be recovered on the secret order of the Vatican. The subsequent volumes are Blameless in Abaddon (1996) and The Eternal Footman (1999).
Morrow received the Nebula Award twice, in 1988 for the short story Bible Stories for Adults, No. 17: The Deluge , (German: "Biblical Stories for Adults No. 17: The Deluge", 1992) and 1991 for the novella City of Truth , (German: "The City of Truth", 1993).
