James Mosgrove (born June 14, 1821 in Kittanning , Armstrong County , Pennsylvania , †  November 27, 1900 there ) was an American politician . Between 1881 and 1883 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Mosgrove attended public schools in his home country and then worked in the iron industry. He only got into politics in the 1870s as a member of the Greenback Party . In 1878 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress . In the congressional elections of 1880 he was then elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 25th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican Harry White on March 4, 1881 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1882, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1883.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Mosgrove became a member of the Democratic Party . This offered him the nomination for the gubernatorial elections , which he refused. In the following years he worked in the banking industry. He served as President of the First National Bank from 1882 until his death . James Mosgrove died on November 27, 1900 in Kittanning, where he was also buried.
