James Murray (born January 22, 1975 in Greater Manchester ) is a British actor .

biography

Murray was born in Greater Manchester in 1975. At the age of four he appeared in an episode of the television series Shoestring . He had his first major role in the soap opera Coronation Street , where he played Sandy Hunter in 1998. He then began acting primarily on television, including in the television series North Square (2000), Cutting It (2004-2005) and 20 Things to Do Before You're 30 (2003).

In 2007 and 2008 he played the assistant Stephen Hart in the television series Primeval - Return of the Primeval Monsters . He can also be seen in It's Alive , a remake of the film The Cradle of Terror and the fantasy series Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire .

Since June 2014 he has played the leading role of Mayor Niles Pottinger in the US television series Defiance .

Private life

Murray has been married to Sarah Parish (co-star on Cutting It ) since 2007 . Their first daughter died in January 2009 after eight months of a congenital heart defect. Another daughter was born in 2009.
