James Scott-Hopkins
Sir James Sidney Rawdon Scott-Hopkins (born November 29, 1921 in Croydon , † March 11, 1995 in Westminster ) was a British politician of the Conservative Party .
James Scott-Hopkins studied at Eton College and the University of Oxford . From 1939 to 1950 he served in the British Army . In 1946 he married Geraldine Hargreaves in Eton and had three sons and a daughter with her.
1955 came Scott-Hopkins in the constituency of Bedwellty and was defeated. In 1959 he won the North Cornwall constituency and became a member of the House of Commons . He lost this seat in 1966 to the liberal John Pardoe . From 1962 to 1964 he was Parliamentary Secretary at the UK Department of Agriculture. In a 1967 by-election in the West Derbyshire constituency , he won and was again a member of parliament until 1979. Matthew Parris followed him . From 1973 to 1994 he sat for the constituency of Hereford and Worcester in the European Parliament . In 1981 he was beaten to a Knight Bachelor degree .
