James Joseph Younghusband (born September 4, 1986 , Ashford ) is an English - Filipino soccer player who once played for Chelsea . Since July 2011 he has been playing for the Loyola Meralco Sparks Football Club and is on the Philippine national football team .

Younghusband signed for Chelsea in 1996 and later got a place at the club at the age of 16. During his time in Chelsea, he played for the youth and reserve team for a number of games. He attended the Salesian School in South West London, where he also graduated.

Childhood and career

Younghusband was born in Ashford, Middlesex, England to Philip Younghusband, a chartered accountant and tax advisor, and Susan Younghusband, a Filipina .

He was at Chelsea when he was less than twelve years old. He is usually responsible for the right side of the field, either back right or outside right. His brother Phil Younghusband , who is one year younger than him, is also a soccer player.

In early 2005, the Philippine Football Federation was made aware of the Younghusbands by an unknown Playstation 2 player because he found out that they were of Filipino descent. Ultimately, Younghusband and his younger brother Phil were called up for the Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, where Younghusband scored his first international goal.

Phil Younghusband was a regular on the Chelsea reserve team. Younghusband later played at AFC Wimbledon , FC Staines Town and for a short time at FC Woking .

After a year with the Philippine club San Beda Red Lions , he and his brother have been under contract with Loyola FC since the beginning of 2012 .
