Jamie Patrick Shea (born September 11, 1953 in London ) is a British NATO official .

Live and act

Jamie Shea studied history and French and graduated from the University of Sussex with a BA (hons.) In 1977 . With the work European Intellectuals and the Great War 1914-1918 he received in 1981 from Lincoln College, Oxford University the degree in Ph.D.

From 1980 he worked in the administration of NATO. In 1982 he became head of the youth program area and in 1985 head of the area for conferences and seminars on foreign policy. In 1988 he became assistant to the NATO Secretary General for Special Projects. From 1993 he was spokesman for NATO, in 2000 he became director for information and press relations and in 2005 director for political planning.

During the Kosovo war , he brought the term collateral damage into circulation as press spokesman .

In addition to his work for NATO, he works as a lecturer at several educational institutions, such as the College of Europe , the University of Kent and the American University , where he has been Associate Professor of International Relations since 1985 . He has published books and articles on political issues in various specialist publications.

Shea is married and has two children.
