Jan Dobruský
Jan Dobruský (born August 28, 1853 in Skuteč , † May 31, 1907 in Prague ) was a Czech chess composer , player and journalist. He was a lawyer by profession .
Chess composition
Dobruský was an outstanding representative of the Bohemian School . Since 1871 he has composed more than 250 chess problems. He showed his best performance in the four-passers.

Dobruský edited the chess corner in the Světozor magazine from 1874 to 1879 and the chess section in the Humoristické listy from 1874 to 1884 . In 1906 he became one of the first editors of Časopis českých šachistů .
Tournaments
In addition, Dobruský was a strong chess player. He reached a 1st place in the tournament Český spolek šachovní 1884 to 1885. The Šachovní klub Dobruský , one of the first Czech chess clubs, founded on December 8, 1902, was named after him.
