Jan Felix Hoffmann

Jan Felix Hoffmann (* 1983 in Heidelberg ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .

Life

Hoffmann studied law at the University of Heidelberg from 2002 until his first state examination in 2007 . He then completed his legal clerkship at the Heidelberg Regional Court , which he completed in 2009 with the second state examination. At the same time he worked as a research assistant, later as an academic adviser at the Heidelberg chair of Thomas Lobinger . Under his supervision, Hoffmann received his doctorate in 2011 as a Dr. iur. After a research stay at the Université de Lorraine in 2014, he also completed his habilitation procedure in Heidelberg in 2015 and received the Venia Legendi for the subjects of civil law, civil procedural law, copyright law, industrial property rights and comparative law.

This was followed by substitute professorships at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg . Since the winter semester 2016/17 he has held a full professorship at the Institute for German and Foreign Civil Procedure Law, Dept. 1 of the University of Freiburg. Hoffmann's research focuses on civil law, especially property and property law, the interfaces between formal and substantive civil law and intellectual property law.

Hoffmann is married and has two sons.
