Jan Frans Vonck
Jan Frans Vonck (born November 29, 1743 in Baardegem , † December 1, 1792 in Rijsel ) was a lawyer and one of the leaders of the Brabant Revolution 1789-1790.
At the end of this revolution was the declaration of independence of the southern Netherlands as the United Belgian States on January 11, 1790 . Vonck headed the Vonckist faction. These were inspired by the French Revolution and called for the abolition of the privilege-based feudal structure in favor of a centralist structure.
Vonck worked with Hendrik van der Noot and his party of extras in the Brabant Revolution . In the course of the revolution, however, Hendrik van der Noot became Vonck's opponent, as Van der Noot sought to restore the old privileges.
