Jan Kochanowski (politician)

Jan Kochanowski (born June 21, 1949 in Świebodzin ) is a Polish politician , local politician and since 1997 member of the Sejm in the III., IV., V. and VI . Electoral term.

In 1988 he graduated from the Faculty of Social and Political Science of the School of Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR). He worked in the volunteer working groups in Gorzów Wielkopolski . From 1968 to 1990 he was a member of the PZPR, from 1988 to 1990 he headed the office of the party's Voivodeship Committee in Gorzów Wielkopolski. From 1990 to 1999 he belonged to the Socjaldemokracja Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland - SdRP), after which he joined the Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (Federation of the Democratic Left - SLD).

From 1992 to 1993 he was director of the company " Hortex ". From 1993 to 1997 he was chairman of the Sejmik of the Gorzów Voivodeship . In 1997, 2001 and 2005 he won a seat in the Sejm through the SLD list. In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was re-elected to the Sejm for the constituency of Zielona Góra with 17,824 votes on the list of Lewica i Demokraci (Left and Democrats - LiD). He is a member of the Sejm Commissions for Local Self-Government and for the State Treasury.

On April 22, 2008 he became a member of the newly founded Lewica parliamentary group .

From 1999 to 2001 he was chairman of the Polish Handball Federation .
