Jan Lindhardt

Jan Holger Lindhardt (born April 24, 1938 in Copenhagen ; † November 11, 2014 ) was a Danish theologian and Evangelical Lutheran bishop . He was the son of theology professor Poul Georg Lindhardt and his wife Gerda Winding and the uncle of the actor Thure Lindhardt .

Life

In 1962 he graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in theology . He wrote numerous theological books and from 1970 worked as a lecturer for theology in Aarhus . There he was ordained an Evangelical Lutheran pastor in 1981 . Two years later he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD . In 1997 he was elected Bishop of Roskilde . After reaching the age limit of 70, he retired on May 1st, 2008 and Peter Fischer-Møller was appointed his successor.

Jan Holger Lindhardt's wife Tine Lindhardt was elected Bishop of Funen in 2012.

On January 1, 2004, he was appointed Commander of the Order of Dannebrog by the Queen of Denmark .
