Jan Lokers

Jan Lokers (* 1958 in Weener ) is a German historian and archivist.

Life

Jan Lokers studied history, German and educational science at the University of Hamburg , which he graduated with the first state examination in 1985 . In 1989 he was in Hamburg with a dissertation on the Jews in Emden 1530-1806 Dr. phil is doing his doctorate .

He joined the Lower Saxony archives service and, after completing his legal clerkship, was archivist in the Lower Saxony State Archives in Stade from 1993 . From 1999 to 2006 he was its director.

In 2006 he was appointed director of the archive of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck as the successor to Antjekathrin Graßmann .

Since February 2015 he has also been chairman of the Association for Lübeck History and Antiquity.
