Jan Mergelkamp
Jan Mergelkamp ( 1869 - April 9, 1934 in Berlin-Steglitz ) was a German theater actor and opera singer ( baritone ).
Life
Mergelkamp first worked as an actor, but was then trained as a singer and made his debut as such in 1903 at the Court Theater in Karlsruhe. From 1904 to 1908 he was engaged in Leipzig, from 1908 to 1913 in Königsberg (East Prussia). He then worked on various stages and most recently (at least 1928) at the Stettin City Theater.
The following roles from his repertoire are worth mentioning: “Wanderer” in Siegfried , “Gunther” in Götterdämmerung , “Kurwenal” in Tristan , “Amonasro” in Aida , “ Rigoletto ”, “Eugen Onegin” and “Sebastiano” in Tiefland .
He also performed successfully as a concert singer.
