Jan Michałowicz from Urzędów (Polish Jan Michałowicz z Urzędowa ; * around 1530 , † around 1583 ) was a Polish sculptor and architect in Krakow .

Jan Michałowicz came from Urzędów or its surroundings in the Lublin region. The first tomb signed by him in Poznań is known from 1557 . Around 1560 he worked in Cracow. The first written mention of a member of the builders' guild is from 1570; in 1571 he received citizenship and bought a house.

In 1581 Jan started with a tomb in Łowicz . He probably died there soon after, because there was an epitaph for him in the church there. He died in 1585.

Some tombs of Jan Michałowicz have been preserved. He signed there with his first and last name and the place of origin. He also designed two associated chapels on the Wawel in Krakow. His work contains influences from the Italian and Dutch sculpture of his time. He worked with the Italian sculptors Giovanni Cini and Giovanni Maria Mosca in Krakow.

Jan Michałowicz is considered the most important Polish sculptor of the Renaissance in Poland.
