Jan Mocka

Jan Malte Mocka (born 1989 in Cologne ) is a German film producer .

Career

After graduating from high school in 2009, Mocka worked as a production assistant on various projects at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts and the Cologne International Film School . From 2009 he produced eitelsonnenschein advertising and music videos for film production . Among other things, he produced the graduation film Sufficient by Isabel Prahl. The film won the First Steps Award in 2012 and was shown at the Hof Film Festival 2011, the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012 and the International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand 2012 , among others .

With a grant from MIZ Babelsberg, he realized the social media experiment fritzplus for the Friedrichjahr in 2012 .

From 2012 to 2016 Mocka studied film and television production at the Babelsberg Film University . His graduation film as producer Meteorstrasse opened the German Cinema Perspective at the 66th Berlinale in 2016 . The film was subsequently shown at numerous festivals around the world and won, among other things, the Perspective Young Cinema Film Prize of the Five Lakes Festival 2016, the War On Screen Student Jury Award 2017 and the Prize of the Jury at the 23rd Festival Cinéma du Monde 2018. His short film Beyond the Tide was awarded the jury prize at the Friedrichshafen Film Festival in 2020 .

In 2015 he founded the film production company Mocka Monitor with the director Ingo Monitor , which was funded by the start office Babelsberg in 2018. Mocka lives and works as a freelance film producer, director and author of feature films and series in Cologne and Berlin .
