Ingo Monitor

Ingo Monitor (born November 6, 1980 in Bonn ) is a German film director , screenwriter and film editor .

Life

Ingo Monitor started working with the medium of film after graduating from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium Bonn in 2000 as an acting student in the USA. In Los Angeles he visited the InStone Actors Studio and a year later the California division of the New York Film Academy , located on the premises of Universal Studios , before he decided to switch to behind the camera and work as a screenwriter and director himself.

On the way to the Art Academy for Media Cologne (KHM), where he studied screenwriting and film directing, he did an internship in the Schafgans photography studio, which has been in existence since 1854, under photographer Hans Schafgans in preparation for this task. He then went through a course of studies in the field of "Mixed Media" at the Saar College of Fine Arts until he completed his intermediate diploma , before moving to the Art School for Media in 2005. In 2008 Ingo Monitor finally completed his studies there with the fictional graduation film "Eni" (24 minutes). "Eni" was supported by a post-production grant from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW , received the audience award at the 7th Düsseldorf Film Festival and an honorable mention from the youth jury at the 56th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival ( Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen 2010 ). In the spring of 2010, the film, in which Carolin von der Groeben , with whom Ingo Monitor made his first short film “Below” at the KHM, played the lead role, was also featured in the short film edition “Love, Suffering” distributed by the Children's and Youth Film Center Germany and passions ”released on DVD. His short film Beyond the Tide was awarded the jury prize at the Friedrichshafen Film Festival in 2020 .

Ingo Monitor has been working as a freelance writer, director and editor since 2008. a. for the Cologne-based Schiebener Filmproduktion , for Eyeworks , for Westdeutscher Rundfunk and for arte . In 2008 he worked with Ingo Schmoll and Dennis Dirksen on the joint documentary series Schmollywood .

In 2015 he founded the film production company Mocka Monitor with the film producer Jan Mocka , which was a scholarship holder of the start office Babelsberg in 2018.
