Jan Peeters (politician)

Jan Peeters [ ˈjɑn ˈpeː.tərs ] (born January 12, 1963 in Herentals , Flanders ) is a Belgian politician .

Political career

Peeters is a member of the Socialist Partij Anders (sp.a). He is also a member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies and was State Secretary of Belgium from 1995 to 1999 . In 1999 he was minister for a short time after Marcel Colla's resignation . He has also been the mayor of his hometown Herentals since 2001 . In May 2010, however, Jan Peeters announced that he would not run again at national level.
