Jan Sandström
Jan Sandström (born January 25, 1954 in Vilhelmina ) is a Swedish musician , composer and music teacher .
Life
Jan Sandström, who grew up in Stockholm, began his studies with Valdemar Söderholm . From 1974 to 1976 he studied counterpoint and school music in Piteå . At the Royal Swedish Music Academy he studied music theory from 1978 to 1982 and from 1980 to 1984 composition with Gunnar Bucht , Brian Ferneyhough and Pär Lindgren . Since 1982 Jan Sandström has been teaching composition and music theory at the Piteå Music Academy (a faculty of the Luleå Technical University ); from 1985 to 1989 he was employed as a music teacher and composer, since 1989 he has been a professor of composition.
