Jan Schürnbrand

Jan Schürnbrand (born July 27, 1972 in Berlin ; † October 23, 2016 in Tübingen ) was a German lawyer and professor at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen .

Life

After graduating from high school in Göttingen and doing civilian service in Freiburg im Breisgau, Schürnbrand began studying law at the University of Konstanz in 1993 , which he completed after studying at the University of Poitiers in 1998 by taking the first state examination in law at the University of Munich . After his second state examination in 2000, he worked from 2001 in various positions at Mathias Habersack's chair at the University of Mainz . Schürnbrand received his doctorate in 2002. In 2007 he completed his habilitation there.

From 2008 to 2012 Schürnbrand held the chair for civil law, commercial and company law, and business law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 2012 he switched to the chair for civil law, commercial and company law, and comparative law at the University of Tübingen , which he held until his death.

Jan Schürnbrand died on October 23, 2016 in Tübingen. He left a wife and three children.
