Jan Wassiljewitsch Polujan
January Vasilyevich Polujan ( Russian Ян Васильевич Полуян, born October 9 . Jul / 21st October 1891 greg. In the Kuban Oblast , † 8. October 1937 in Moscow ) was a Russian revolutionary.
Life
Jan Wassiljewitsch Polujan became a member of the Bolsheviks in 1912 . He played an important role in the civil war on the southern front and later became a member of the Soviet government. Polujan's sister Nadezhda was married to Ivars Smilga . During the Stalin Purges in the 1930s, Smilga, Jan and Nadeschda and their brothers Dmitri and Nikolai were also executed. Jan Polujan was shot dead in Moscow on October 8, 1937 as part of the Great Terror .
