The Jana ( Russian Яна ) is a 190 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk , in the northeast of Russia and in the east of the Russian-Far East Federal District .
Including the source river Rechts Jana , which rises in the Suntar Chajata Mountains ( ⊙ ), the total flow distance is 217 km.
The Jana arises from Right Jana ( Prawaja Jana , 27 km) and Left Jana ( Lewaja Jana , 21 km). It flows through the Magadan Oblast and flows into the Sea of Okhotsk, a marginal sea of the Pacific . The largest tributary is the Seimkan coming from the left . The village of Tauisk is located at the mouth .
The region around the Jana River is the habitat of the brown bear . The coastal tundra at the mouth of the river is known for its bird life ( long-toed sandpipers and, for example, snipe, which is threatened with extinction in Germany ). It is home to the Siberian angle-toothed newt and the u. a. in Europe in its stocks threatened water hemlock .
