Jana Moravcová
Jana Moravcová (born Neumannová , born May 8, 1937 in Černčice near Louny ; † June 12, 2018 ) was a Czech poet , writer and translator.
Life
Moravcová studied Slavic Studies at the Charles University in Prague from 1955 , and was a visiting professor for Slavic languages in Cuba for two years . In 1967 she received her PhD from the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University . From 1975 she worked as deputy editor-in-chief at the publishing house "Československy Spisovatel" in Prague. She translated poems from Spanish and Russian, then began to publish as a poet, eventually turning to prose after the publication of four volumes of poetry and also wrote a number of children's books.
Works
Moravcová published the stories "The Infallible Club" (1973, 1980), "A month of glorious madness" (1975), and "Still life with citadel" (1978). She also wrote the novels "The Story of the Hallowed Lake" (1976), "The Stone Garden" (1977), "Archangel Houbeles" (1979) and "Cicadas" (1980). The short story The Fall with the Iron (T: Barbara Zulkarnain ) appeared in the anthology "A Prague Sherlock Holmes. Czech Humoresken" (Verlag der Nation, Berlin 1984).
