Jana Schmidt (born December 13, 1972 ) is a German athlete .

Career

She starts in classes T / F42 (her right knee is stiff) in the disciplines shot put , 100-meter run and long jump for the 1st LAV Rostock. Jana Schmidt is trained by Peter Schörling , her personal bests are 16.01 seconds in the 100 meter run and 9.58 m in the shot put. At the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing , she finished fifth in the shot put. At the 2009 World Championships, she took 1st place in the 100-meter run and 2nd place in the shot put. In 2012 she also successfully took part in the Paralympics in London and took 3rd place in the 100 meter sprint. In 2013 at the World Championships in Lyon, Schmidt then won gold in the shot put and silver in the long jump and 100-meter run. In 2014 she was third twice at the European Championships (100-meter run and long jump). The shot put in the starting class was canceled, so that only 100 meters and long jump are possible.

Jana Schmidt worked as a sports supervisor, but is now taking early retirement. In 2011 she was Sportswoman of the Year in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
