The XIV Summer Paralympic Games were held in London from August 29 to September 9, 2012 . The contract between the host countries and the IOC stipulates that the Paralympics will use the same venue as the Olympic Games.

For the first time, the Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games were planned together from the start. 4,452 athletes from 164 nations took part, the largest number of athletes in the Paralympics to date; 16 nations were represented for the first time.

Participating Nations

4452 athletes from 164 nations took part in the 2012 Summer Paralympics. This made the Summer Paralympic Games with the largest number of participants in the history of the Paralympics. 16 nations were represented for the first time. The number of participating athletes is shown in brackets.
