The Janak Chuli (also Janak or Outlier , English for "foothill") is a 7041 m (according to other sources 7090 m ) high peak in the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and the People's Republic of China .
The Janak Chuli forms a 4.45 km west-southwest side peak of the Jongsang Ri . At its northeastern flank is the Lashargletscher , on the western flank of the flows Tsisimagletscher , which is located on the southern flank Broken Glacier .
Ascent history
In May 1998 a British-Nepalese expedition attempted to climb it.
In November 2004 a Romanian expedition tried to climb Janak Chuli. Due to adverse snow conditions ( powder snow ), they broke off the attempt to climb.
On May 6, 2006, the two Slovenes Andrej Stremfelj and Rok Zalokar finally managed to climb the peak for the first time . The ascent route led over the south-west pillar (1150 m, IV – V, 60 ° –70 ° / III 45 ° –55 °).
