Jane Wagner

Jane Wagner (born February 26, 1935 in Morristown , Tennessee ) is an American writer , screenwriter , film director and film producer .

Life

Wagner grew up in Morristown, Tennessee, and attended Morristown High School there . She moved to New York City where she studied painting, sculpture, and acting. She went on tour as an actress with the Barter Theater of Abingdon, Virginia. She made her film debut as a screenwriter in 1969 with the film JT , for which she received the Peabody Award. Wagner wrote several works as an author and she filmed several of her works as a screenwriter, film director and film producer. Wagner has been married to comedian and actress Lily Tomlin since 2013 .
