Janet Suzman
Dame Janet Suzman DBE (born February 9, 1939 in Johannesburg ) is a South African actress and director .
In the 1960s she started her acting career as a member of the English theater group Royal Shakespeare Company . In the 1960s and 1970s she appeared in numerous British TV productions. In 1971 she got her first movie starring role in Nicholas and Alexandra and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Alexandra . In 1982 she played the lead female role in Peter Greenaway's film The Draftsman's Contract . From 1969 to 1986 she was married to the director Trevor Nunn . A son emerged from this relationship.
