Janika Sillamaa (born June 23, 1975 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian jazz and pop singer .

education

Janika Sillamaa (actually Jaanika Sillamaa) attended the Tallinn Music High School. They had their first stage appearances with leading roles in the children's theater Colombina . She then studied stage singing, jazz and pop at the renowned Georg Ots music school in Tallinn. She celebrated great success as Maria Magdalena in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar . Since 2000 she has been studying theater directing at the Estonian Music Academy and works as a singing teacher.

Eurovision Song Contest

In 1993 , Estonian television decided to send Janika Sillamaa to the Eurovision Song Contest as the first representative of Estonia . In a national preliminary round, a group of experts chose one of eight songs by Janika Sillamaas, Muretut meelt ja südametuld . In the Eastern European preliminary round in Ljubljana , however, she was eliminated and was not allowed to take part in the actual competition.
