Janine Darcey (born January 14, 1917 in Asnières-sur-Seine as Janine Renée Casaubon , † October 1, 1993 in Fontenay-lès-Briis ) was a French actress .

Life

Janine Darcey was the daughter of Eugène Casaubon and Marie Bouchon. She grew up in Paris and attended schools in France and England. After her return she studied acting and then appeared on several theater stages before she increasingly worked in French film from the late 1930s. She had her first leading role in the drama Theaterliebe , published in 1938 and directed by Marc Allégret .

During the filming of Le Carrefour des enfants perdus , Darcey fell in love with the main actor Serge Reggiani in 1943 , whom she married in 1945. They had two children, of whom Stéphan Reggiani (1945–1980) became a singer and songwriter. The marriage ended in divorce in 1955. She married the writer Michel Jacovleff in 1957. Both lived in the mountain village of Gréolières from the 1970s. After Stéphan's suicide, Darcey increasingly withdrew from acting.
