Jantje Friese (* 1977 in Marburg ) is a German film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Jantje Friese studied production and media management at the University of Television and Film Munich . After graduating, she initially worked as a producer for Made in Munich Filmproduktion and Neue Sentimental Film Berlin. In 2010 she was the producer of the feature film debut The Last Silence of her partner Baran bo Odar .

Together with Baran bo Odar she wrote the screenplay for Who Am I - No System is Safe (2014), which was filmed by Odar. Her script was nominated for the German Film Prize 2015. Through the film, Netflix became aware of Friese and Odar and offered both of them to make a series out of the film. Instead, Friese and Odar jointly developed the first German Netflix series Dark , the first season of which premiered on December 1, 2017. On December 20, Netflix announced that it would extend the series for a second season.

Friese has a daughter together with Baran bo Odar.
