Januario Soares

Januário Soares Sarmento is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of FRETILIN .

In the elections to the Constituent Assembly on August 30, 2001 Soares won the direct mandate of the Viqueque district with 81.62% of the vote. Soares was a member of the systematisation and harmonization committee at the assembly.

With the independence of East Timor on May 20, 2002 , the assembly became a national parliament and Soares deputy. Here he was Secretary of Commission A (Commission on Constitutional Affairs, Law, Freedom and Guarantees). In the new elections in June 2007 Soares ran for 25th place on the FRETILIN list, but the party only won 21 seats and Soares did not move up later for outgoing parliamentarians.
