Janusz Kondratiuk (born September 19, 1943 in Ak-Bulak , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ; † October 7, 2019 ) was a Polish director and screenwriter and brother of the director Andrzej Kondratiuk .

The Kondratiuks came from Pińsk , from where they were deported to Kazakhstan after the Soviet invasion of Poland , where Janusz was born. In 1945 the family was allowed to leave Kazakhstan, but since their hometown Pinsk was in eastern Poland , which was annexed by the Soviet Union after the war , Łódź became their new home.

In 1969 Kondratiuk graduated from the local film school with a degree in directing.
