Zschettgau is a village west of Eilenburg and a district of this city. It is located in the northwest of Saxony .

Geography and traffic

The village of Zschettgau lies between Pressen and Kospa , both of which are also districts of Eilenburg. Zschettgau has two connections to State Road 4 ( Delitzsch –Eilenburg) and a local connection to Ochelmitz ( Jesewitz municipality ). On working days, the place is served by buses in the direction of Eilenburg and Delitzsch. The nearest train station is Kämmereiforst on the Halle – Eilenburg line .

history

Zschettgau was first mentioned as Zcetkow in 1349/1350 . Like the place names in the area, this name is of Sorbian origin and can be interpreted as numerous or counting. The floor plan of the settlement is round . Until 1815, Zschettgau belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952.

On July 1, 1950, Zschettgau was incorporated into Kospa. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Kospa and Zschettgau were connected to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . On October 11, 1965, Kospa merged with the Pressen community to form the Kospa-Pressen community. Zschettgau has been a district of Eilenburg since 1997.

Public facilities

Zschettgau is the cultural center of the western districts of Eilenburg. The community center Lebens (T) raum , which is sponsored by the city of Eilenburg and was newly built in 2003, is located here . This building, which is equipped for handicapped people, sees itself as a citizens 'meeting center, as it also houses a senior citizens' meeting center in addition to the day care center for Zschettgau, Pressen, Behlitz and Kospa. In addition, the Zschettgau volunteer fire brigade and the office of the local council are located in the building . The premises can also be rented for private parties.
