Geography and traffic

The village lies between the Krostitz district of Kupsal and the Eilenburg district of Pressen , with which it has almost grown together. The nearest train station is Kämmereiforst on the Halle – Eilenburg line .

history

Behlitz was first mentioned as Bilice in 1340 . Like most place names in the area, the name is of Sorbian origin and means something like "wet meadow". Behlitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg until 1815 . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952.

On July 1, 1950, Behlitz was incorporated into Pressen. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Pressen and Behlitz were connected to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . On October 11, 1965, Pressen merged with the Kospa community to form the Kospa-Pressen community. Behlitz has been part of the city of Eilenburg since 1997.
