Janusz Zakrzeński (born March 8, 1936 in Przededworze , † April 10, 2010 in Smolensk , Russia ) was a Polish actor .

Life

Janusz Zakrzeński attended the PWST State Drama School in Cracow , which he graduated in 1960. He received his first theater engagement in 1960 at the Teatr Słowacki in Kraków, where he was part of the ensemble until 1967. He then went to Warsaw , where he was part of the Teatr Polski ensemble from 1967 to 1974. Then played from 1974 to 1984 at Teatr Nowy and 1984/85 at Teatr Narodowy. From 1985 until his death in 2010 he was a member of the Teatr Polski ensemble in Warsaw. He made his film debut in 1958. Since then he has played more than 50 roles in movies and television series. In 1965 he portrayed Legionnaires ( Popioły ) Napoleon Bonaparte in Andrzej Wajda's film . In Bohdan Poreba's film Polonia Restituta , Józef Piłsudski played for the first time in 1980. This role played several times in the last years of his life at official anniversary celebrations. He wrote the book Moje spotkania z Marszałkiem about Piłsudski . He was known to the Polish television audience through the television series M jak miłość .

On April 10, 2010 Zakrzeński was part of a Polish delegation headed by President Lech Kaczyński , who was to travel to the memorial in Russia on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre . In the plane crash of the delegation near the Smolensk-Nord military airfield , however, he was killed along with other high-ranking representatives of Poland.

Posthumously Zakrzeński was the Commander's Cross of the 16 April 2010 Order of Polonia Restituta (Krzyź Komandorski Orderu Rebirth of Poland) awarded.
