Jarmo Jokinen

Jarmo Jokinen (born September 1, 1957 in Järvenpää , † November 27, 1987 in Seinäjoki ) was a Finnish table tennis player . He was one of the best players in Finland in the 1970s and 1980s. He took part in six world championships and five European championships .

Career

At the national Finnish championships Jarmo Jokinen won a total of 25 titles, ten of them in singles, six in doubles and nine in mixed. From 1977 to 1987 he took part in six world championships without coming close to medal ranks. However, he defeated the German Georg Böhm in 1985 . He was more successful at Nordic Championships , where he won three mixed medals with Sonja Grefberg : 1981 and 1986 silver and 1983 gold.

Private

Jarmo Jokinen made his living as an advertising consultant. He was married. In November 1987 he died as a result of an accident at work. At this point in time his second child was about to be born.
