Jaromír Vejvoda
Jaromír Vejvoda (born March 28, 1902 in Zbraslav , † November 13, 1988 there ) was a Czech composer. He became world famous for his Polka Rosamunde (original: Škoda lásky) .
Life
Vejvoda continued the musical tradition of his family. At the age of 6 he learned to play the violin and at 14 he mastered the flugelhorn. In the following year he became a member of his father's band, which he took over after his military service. He lived in Teplitz , most recently in Prague . Vejvoda has three sons, Jaromír, Jiří and Josef. All three started with music, but in the end only Josef followed in his father's footsteps. His granddaughter Zuzana Vejvodová is an actress.
Works
He wrote 82 compositions, including his most famous in 1927, the Polka Škoda lásky (German: Schade um die Liebe). The Czech text was not written until 1932 and in 1934 Klaus S. Richter wrote the German version of Rosamunde , which has become an international evergreen. Others (excerpt):
