Jaroslav Kolkus

Jaroslav Kolkus (born June 28, 1954 in Trenčianske Teplice ) is a Czech officer . He was promoted to Lieutenant General on October 28, 2005 .

Kolkus attended the Army College in Vyškov (graduation 1977) and the Brno Military Academy (postgraduate studies, graduation 1985). In addition, he completed training at the NATO Defense College in Rome (2000–2001).

In the period from 1985 to 1995 Kolkus was chief of staff of the 1st tank regiment in Strašice , commander of the 12th tank regiment in Podbořany and deputy commander of the 3rd mechanized division and the 7th mechanized brigade in Kroměříž, which emerged in 1994 . In 1996 he was given responsibility for matters relating to the combat training of the troops of the 2nd Army Corps (which existed from 1994 to 1997) and of the Land Forces Command as its successor structure (from 1997). From 1999 to 2002 he was Chief of Staff of the 1st Mechanized Division and then National Representative of the Czech Armed Forces at SFOR . At the end of 2002 he moved to the General Staff , where he was head of the main operational department (Operační sekce Generálního štábu) and from 2003 to 2008 first deputy to the Chief of the General Staff.

Since 2008 he has represented his country on the NATO military committee and on the military staff of the European Union .

Jaroslav Kolkus is married and has two sons.
